Don’t leave your dog at home, celebrate National Dog Day with your best friend at Spalding House!

Well-behaved, leashed dogs and their adult (18 years and older) owners are invited to join us. Create art with local artist Dru Santiago from Adventure Fun Club, and get your family photo taken with Hawaii Pet Portraits. Enjoy a docent-led tour through the Spalding House garden and experience The World Reflected exhibition while your dog stays safe and sound with a “Doggy Valet” managed by K-9 Secret Service doggy day care.

NOTE: Dogs must remain on a leash and be accompanied by an adult at all times.

ADMISSION

DOG DAY ACTIVITIES

Q+A: Get all your dog-related questions answered by the friendly folks of Hawaiian Humane Society.

Agility course: Test your dog on 3-4 “mini-contact” stations of varying difficulty—including a tunnel, jumps, and a small dog walk—courtesy of HAHA (Hawaiian Agility Handlers Association).

Pup-up shop: Score some goodies from The Public Pet—including healthy treats—and shop for handmade items for your dog (and you!).

Adventure Fun Club: Pose your pet for a one-of-a-kind portrait by Dru Santiago!

Doggy dining: Enjoy lunch with your furry friend at Spalding House Café where Chef Susan Lai Hipp will be serving a special pet-inclusive menu. Seating is limited, RSVP required

Picture-perfect pooch: Enter your pup in an Instagram photo contest for a chance to win a prize!

Collar Charms: Accessorize your pet! Attendees can create a special charm for their dog’s collar using colorful tassels and beads.

Hawaii Pet Portraits: Remember the day forever with a photo and “memory book” of your dog! Photo packages also available for purchase.

Only well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome.

• Dogs must remain on leash and be accompanied by an adult at all times

• Attendees must be mindful of the art and remain behind stanchions or barriers. If none is present, attendees and leashed dogs must stay at least 4ft away from sculptures at all times.

• Owners are responsible for their dogs, and must pick up and dispose of pet waste at designated areas.

• Upon check-in, the owner will be given a wristband and a museum staff member will explain the rules of the event.

• Dogs are welcome in the following areas only: Lawn areas as indicated by markers and a map available at the event, and outdoor Café seating.

MEET & GREET with KOHL HARRINGTON (PRESENTED BY RAW DOG HAWAII)

MEET & GREET with KOHL HARRINGTON (PRESENTED BY RAW DOG HAWAII)

Shown in over 80 countries, Pet Fooled is an investigative exposé about the inner workings of the commercial Pet Food Industry. With the help of Veterinarians, Dr. Barbara Royal (Oprah Winfrey’s Veterinarian) and Dr. Karen Becker, filmmaker Kohl Harrington takes viewers on an entertaining and eye-opening journey exploring all facets of a harrowing and secretive industry, which has operated largely unchallenged, until now.

What Am I Feeding My Dog?

Thanks to Pet Fooled, pet parents are better educated on the history of commercial dog food in America, what actually goes into most commercial pet foods, and why record numbers of dogs are getting sick, developing chronic illness, and dying. As pet parents become informed of the horrific realities of commercially made dog food, they are searching for answers and demanding healthier options for their pets. As such, the raw pet food movement has taken hold and is bigger than ever.

Pet Fooled 2

Pet Fooled 2 will highlight pet industry professionals and pet parents, who value transparency and sourcing the cleanest, biologically appropriate ingredients, as well as the struggles and challenges they endure striving to do what is right, over what is easy.

We are excited to announce that Gary Novosel, Founder and CEO of Raw Dog Hawaiʻi and Hawaiʻi Veteran Small Business Person of the Year, will be featured in the upcoming film, Pet Fooled 2. Raw Dog Hawaiʻi is a manufacturer of Hawaiʻi’s only locally made and sourced, grass fed, pasture raised, or wild, fresh raw dog food. Over the past five years, Gary has forged strong relationships with local sustainable ranchers, farmers, hunters, and retailers, who will be highlighted in the film.
